November 8, 2007I ordered a K&N FPIK cold air intake and having it installed on my truck tomorrow ( friday) I have the choice of going with either the plastick black tube or the 77 series polished tube. I really like the way the 77 looks but is one tube (plastic/polished) better that the other ? The dealer mentioned that he thought the plastic tube would keep the air cooler than the polished tube, Anyone know if there IS a difference ? it is going on a 2003 GMC Sierra with a 4.8 and flowmaster exhaust, 3 inch single in with 2 1/2 inch dual out, if that makes any difference.

November 9, 2007I have the 77 series, and my brother has the FIPK, there is no difference, just looks. Infact I think the FIPK adds like 1 more HP than the 77. It's all preference.
November 10, 2007I now have my series 77 installed and YES, a definate "KICK" in throttle response.
The Installer ran the coolant recovery hose over the top of the tubethe same as it was on the stock setup. He said he thought it would "kink up" if he ran it under the intake tube.
November 10, 2007Looks great man! you can't beat the performence and looks of the 77 series
November 10, 2007Thanks, I really like it.
November 10, 2007I like my K&N intake. Yours looks good, and yes--you can feel the difference. Nice mod!
